David Estes ~ Shout Out

Quickly hurtling into the spotlight of success…

David Estes (pictured down below) published his first book in 2011. The first book in the Evolution series (all three book covers are below), Angel Evolution very quickly grasps the reader and thrusts them into a very different take on angels and demons. This story is highlighted with some pretty believable and likeable characters and leaves you guessing as to what will happen.

Skip forward to book #2 – Demon Evolution and while I found this one not up to the same standards as the first one, it still kept my interest enough to pursue book #3. Archangel Evolution was a good closing book to the series, perhaps a little too good. You can find my review of #3 here.

Say hello to Mr. Blue Eyes himself!

Another great thing about David, aside from his youthful and flirty writing is the fact that he’s thrown in the towel of his day job and is currently travelling around the world with his wife and writing. What an amazing opportunity to spend lost in creation. He’s almost always available for a chat on Goodreads, interacting with his fans on Facebook and Twitter and sharing teasers of his new projects. David is very active online and has been part of a number of blog hops, including staging periodic cover releases and providing interviews with various fans’ blogs.

David has also recently released (June 30th, September 30th and November 30th 2012) a new trilogy, The Dwellers series. I’ve read book #1 in the series and have found it to be the strongest of David’s writing yet. I think he keeps getting better and better. He’s constantly looking for feedback, and trying to improve with each book. Needless to say, books #2 and #3 are also on my TBR list. He’s tried his hand at a Dystopian Young Adult series, and I think he’s done surprisingly well.

The results on Goodreads certainly show that his fans are lapping up the new books. The Moon Dwellers currently has a 4.18 average. Star Dwellers scoring a 4.70 and Sun Dwellers a 4.72 average star rating.

I gave Moon Dwellers 4 stars you may have seen my review posted here a little while ago.

For the children:

David also has a childrens series Nikki Powergloves which is suitable for children aged 7-10. Initial comments and reviews are showing a generally favourable reaction to this new series of books for the children.

The Cover Contessa states in her review from Goodreads:

…Well, he [my son] loved these books. He zipped through them in no time flat. When he was finished with the first, he could not wait for me to load the next one onto his Kindle! Anthony said one of his most favorite things about this series is it’s ability to make him laugh…

That’s pretty high praise from a child of 8 1/2 years old!

One for a good cause:

David has also recently teamed up with a whole gaggle of other writers to produce Furthermore: An Anthology where all royalties are going directly to the American Cancer Society. He’s written 2 of the 18 short stories for this book. The synopsis is such:

A first date, a lottery, treachery and deceit. Sometimes fate has other plans. Sometimes there’s more to tell.

In Furthermore: An Anthology, eighteen original stories take you on a journey through worlds here and beyond. From the depths of the earth to the embrace of the sea, your favorite series continue. Prequels, alternative views, and new scenes give readers a chance to experience more than originally told.

Including stories from Rebekah Campbell, Amber Garr, David Estes, Leigh Michael, Karen Amanda Hooper, Stephanie Judice, and Mayandree Michael. And most importantly, in honor of those who lost the battle and those who continue to fight, all proceeds from this anthology will be donated to cancer research and support.
